Since 2004, Cabin 10, Inc. has been hosting music festivals in Fischer, Texas featuring some of the finest talent in North America, with profits contributing to the Rice Harrington Memorial Art Scholarship.
Originally known as the Rice Festival, it evolved into Fischer Fest and has now returned to its roots as New Folk Old Folk.
As a reminder, children are more than welcome at New Folk Old Folk. Some of the little ones who came to Rice Festival in its early years are now coming back with little ones of their own. Given the hall’s capacity, however, if a child fits on your lap (and does not need to take up a second seat) they do not need a ticket. If they need their own chair, they need their own ticket. Many of the younger folks enjoy a Yardbird ticket where they can be out of doors and still hear the music.
Early Bird Tickets will be capped at 70 tickets for Fischer Hall. The event is "Rain or Shine!" Your ticket will include free parking and free dry camping at the Solis Family Campground, directly across the street from Fischer Hall.
Underwriter tickets will be capped at 30. The event is "Rain or Shine!" Underwriters receive one full weekend ticket, free parking & dry camping, reserved seating, a VIP seat cushion, a NFOF T-shirt, shout outs from the stage, recognition in the program and on the music underwriter banners, and free workshops with Evie Ladin & Mary Gauthier! Underwriters have access to Fischer Hall 30 minutes ahead of General Admission and admission to the campground as early as 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19th.
Advance tickets will go on sale when we sell out Early Bird tickets. The event is "Rain or Shine!" Your ticket will include free parking and free dry camping at the Solis Family Campground, directly across the street from Fischer Hall. The Campground opens at Noon on Thursday, November 19 and closes at Noon on Monday, November 23rd.
Yardbird tickets afford great seating on the grounds of Fischer Hall but no entry to the Hall itself. NFOF is a Rain or Shine event! Bring your favorite chair, blankets, umbrella/ pop-ups (easy-ups) and great weather vibes. Your ticket will include free parking and free dry camping at the Solis Family Campground, directly across the street from Fischer Hall. The Campground opens at Noon on Thursday, November 19 and close at Noon on Monday, November 23rd.
Songwriting workshop at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 21 in Fischer Hall. Saved by a Song: The Art and Healing Power of Songwriting This workshop is designed to help songwriters increase their overall understanding of the art and craft of songwriting. Mary has a hands-on approach that encourages songwriters to take risks, be brave, and dig deep. She believes that the redemptive power of music and song can be conduits for personal growth and alchemy. Foundational to Mary’s teaching is her belief that song and story can and should go beyond mere entertainment; they can bridge gaps between us, remind us of our common struggles and collective aspirations, and help build a more compassionate world. Mary offers students valuable tools for their songwriting tool kits, knowing that the more tools a songwriter has, the better writer they will become. There will be a short lecture, and Mary will also answer questions and provide feedback on students songs.
Evie will host her workshop on Friday, November 20 at 10 a.m. in Fischer Hall. Square dance, two step, swing dance, waltz, more - basic skills for dancing with a partner is not something people generally learn anymore, and yet gives so much juice to any style in which you'd want to dance with others. Basic weight sharing, leading, following, turns, footwork - it's easier than you think! No experience needed.
Thanks to the Solis family, we are able to provide free dry camping. That said, the cost of everything continues to rise. If you could make a small contribution toward the campgrounds, it will help us to ensure you have the best camping experience. Thanks for your consideration!
